Causes of infertility and functions of male sex hormones

The intention of the parts of the male reproductive system is to perform as It produces male sex hormones,maintain and transport sperm and protective fluid.

Hormones of testis and their functions:
Name :
Testosterone
Inhibin

Functions of testosterone –
Stimulates the growth of male sex organs
Promotes the development of male secondary sexual characteristics.

Primary reproductive organ of male.
Testes.
Functions –
Formation of semen. Secretion of testosterone hormone. Stimulation of growth of male sex organs and secondary sexul characteristics by hormone.

Primary reproductive organ of female- overy
Functions :
Formation of 0 close toright cyte. production of hormones – Oestrogen and progesterone. Stimulation of development of female sex organs, breast and various secondary sexual characteristics by hormones.

Male secondary sex characteristics:

1.External genitalia-
Penis increases in length and width.
Scrotum becomes pigmented and rough.
2. Internal genitalia-
Seminal vesicles enlarged and secrete.
Prostate and bulbo urethral glands enlarge and secrete.
3. Voice
Larynx enlarges, vocal cord increase in length and thickness.
voice becomes deeper.
4. Hair growth
Hairline on scalp recodes antero laterally.
Pubic hair grows with male pattern.
Hair appear in axillas, on chest and around anus.
General body hair increase.
5.Mental change
More aggressive and active attitude.
Interest in opposite sex develops
6. Body structure
Shoulders broaden.
Muscles enlarge
7. Skin. Sebaceous gland secretion increases.

Infertility-
It is the biological inability to contribute to conception or the state of a woman who is unable to carry a pregnancy to full term.

Cause of infertility –
1. Causes of both sex-
a. Genetic factors
b. Genetic factors
i. Diabetes mellitus.
ii. Thyroid disorder.
iii. Adrenal disease.
c. Disorders in hypothalamus and pituitary glans.
d. Environmental factors. e.g. toxins. smoking etc.
2.Causes in female –
a. Ovulation problems
b. Tube blockage
c. Age
d. Problem in uterus.
e. Poor e.g quality
3. Causes in male
a. Genetic defect in chromosome.
b. Age
c. Tube blockages
d. Trauma to testes
e. Vas deferns obstruction
f. Prostatitis
g. Spem allergy
