Hormone is any member of a class of signaling molecules produced by glands in multicellular system to target istant organs to regulate physiology and nature.

Kidney-
Hormones of kidney-
Calcitriol
Renin
Erythroprotein

Functions-
Calcitriol-
Increases absorption of calcium from the gut.
Increases calcification of bone.
Renin- Regulates blood pressure by increasing B.P
Erythroprotein- Stimulates bone marrow for formation of R.B.C

Hormones of thymus and their functions-
Hormones of thymus-
Thymosin-
Functions-
Helps in maturation of T-lymphocyte.
Maintains the normal concentration of T-lymphocyte.

Hormones of placenta
Functions-
Human chorionic gonadottopin: Promotes the secretion of estrogen and progesterone.
Human chorionic somatomammotropin: Promotes the development of fetus and mother’s breast.
Progesterone:
Maintenance of pregnancy.
Development of secretory apparatus of breast.
Estrogen: Helps to development of female sex organ and mammary gland.

Hormones secreted by adrenal gland:
Cortisol
Aldosterone
Glucocorticoids
Adrenaline/epinephrin
Nor-adrenaline/nor-epinephrin

Functions-
Cortisol-
Controls the metabolism of carbohydrate, protein, fat.
Has anti-inflammatory effects.

Aldosterone-
Reduces Na+ excretion.
Increases K+ excretion
Increases H+ excretion in urine.

Epinephrin and nor-epinephrin-
Increases heart rate
Dilates bronchioles
Dilates pupil
Increases blood glucose level.

Classification of hormone-
A. Peptide hormones
B. Steroid hormones
C. Thyroid hormones and biogeinc amines

Functions of hormone
Homeostasis
Growth
Reproduction
Combating
Via metabolism
Via water and mineral regulation
